Most deffinitly. Although if you are holding on a 15'6 pole and jumping mid 15's, it could be difference of just staying back on the pole as long as you should be. Not many people are doing that though... they are jumping much higher if they are on a 15'6 pole.

let's focus on the present, everybody

less confusion and aggravation...no one really knows any of these vaulters well enough to predict what they are going to be doing in three years*unless they are that vaulter, but you can't predict what's going to happen over that long a time period*(hmm...just like the elite vaulters, but I digress...)

Also, a lot of people on here tend to be a bit sarcastic....so don't automatically take everything for what it appears to be.

Oh yes, and the only one who would even be able to go for the state record in three years would be Corey Shank (who would be a senior).

Seems that the longer the pole the more the technique needs to be spot on...so a longer pole will not solve the problems. That means a take off from farther out, not an easy thing to do...jump in the air when there is no pit under you...trust your speed (assuming you have enough) and pole bend to deliver you over the pads...and be able to hang on longer than you ever have and not bale out early. 15 feet to 17 feet is a quantum jump interms of pole vault mechanics. Good luck, but you would be better off buying a Power Ball ticket than betting on this.

technique never changes so going to a longer pole would only help and make people jump high.... i think corey shank and jonathan hunter hall will both go 17 feet next year... hunter hall has gone 16 8 so 17 is only 4 inches away and he jumped it indoors so just having good conditions outdoors he could do it and he had some good height over 16 8 and corey shank is only holding 14 8 jumping 15 10 so all he has to do is raise his grip but of course everyone knows this that is why they are making their predictions

i think its hard to predict who will go what height next year unless you really know the vaulter and what they do at practice. so im not gonna try to predict. but the way i sort of interpret vaulting for the most part is get the technique down good until you can try to do it good on a stiffer or longer pole, and once you can be technically good on that larger pole, vault well on an even bigger pole.
there seems to be two types of vaulters. ones that get on big poles and onces that are stuck on small poles but clear the top of the pole by a lot. the best vaulters probably do both-get on big poles and clear the top by a lot-and thats why they go highest...generally. isnt spencer mccorkel on small poles, like less that 15 feet, but he has a ridiculous pushoff? anyway, go ahead people, prove me wrong
