I came in at 10 when most people were just about finishing, and my handhold was about 2 or 3 feet higher than the bar, and i hit this 14 foot jump for the first time in my life, and i had enough time to bring my hands back behind my back on the way down

LMAO

It seems a little rude and obviously overconfident, but I'm totally going to do that!

I heard about a good one in college. Not sure who it was, but this was at NCAA's in Eugene, OR around 1988 or 1989. Tim McMichael told a guy that his problem was that he was inhaling at the plant and he needed to be exhaling. The guy focuses on his breathing and doesn't make another bar. McMichael wins it.

I've used that one over the years on my buddies when we're playing golf for money. ;)

Tommy Skipper has it down. On Friday he clearly just soared (really, more than a foot over the bar) over his opening height of 5.50. I'm sure that that made all of the guys who were struggling with it feel real confident.

I would advise this as an effective means of playing mind games with the competition. Of course, it only works if you have a good enough vault to fly over a fairly good bar as your opening... ;)
