carbon results in a thinner wall than other types of glass
and if you allow the pole to strike the ground or the standards the pole can obtain a nick that will weaken the structure and/ or result in a broken pole on subsequent jumps. As other type of glass you need to take care of the pole.
It also could be the way you take-off if you are too flat and crush the pole, this could result in an overload in certain areas of the pole.
 Is that the new essx advantage? Do they have a mechanism to increase energy input? Sounds like your in the wrong business if thats the case. 
  I think that UCS spirits are good poles, but I prefer an essx or a pacer III...
