Skipper in the dec at pac 10!

Unread postby Azbeachboy1 » Fri May 07, 2004 11:17 pm

Just came back from day one of the PAC 10 dec. Skipper won the 100 around 10.65 I believe. Won the shot at just under 45 feet. So so in the lj. More results to come.....Pole vault tomarrow. I believe the NCAA pv record is just over 18' by Domanic Jonson from Arizona a while back. Can anyone confirm this. We'll see how it goes!

Wow thats about 2.5 feet off his best LJ too. If he can run the hurdles well he'll have a really strong second day.

GO JOSH!!!! that guy came in as a 10'6 jumper this year, has cleared I want to say 14' 1" already. It's his first real year pole vaulting, and i've seen him take some awesome attempts at 15'. He's definitely going to be a force in the dec once he really develops in a cople of his events.
Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. - Muhammad Ali

Skipper is a freakin animal, i give him much props, i bet if he trained like donovan for all the events he would give Kilmartin a good run for his money.

wow...what a comp! With 1 event left skipper is in first with just over 7100 points. Josh is in second with just under 7000 points. Skipper had 3 awsome attempts at 18' in the pv, ended up only clearing 5.30m.
Joshua had a foot PR in the PV, 14'10 I believe! Way to go. Cant wait to see how the 1500m goes. Should be a battle for the ages!

Tommy takes the "dub".

100- 10.69 (931)
LJ- 20-06.5 (644)
SP- 44-06.75 (703)
HJ- 6-05.5 (776)
400- 50.26 (803)
110H- 15.62 (776)
DT- 143-04 (740)
PV- 17-4.5 (1004)
JT- 203-10 (770)
1500- 5:21.46 (442)

Total: 7589

Oregon also takes 3, 4, and 5.

Throw in a easy LJ of 23 feet (he fouled his first two and just had to get a mark) and a vault of 18 feet plus a week of cardio training to get his 1500 down to 5 minutes and you've got yourself an 8000 point decathalete! This kid's the real deal.

I'm not all to keen on decathalons and such, but is there a standard for the points? Is it determined by place? I would have to figure it is determined by times/ measurements, but where can I find a lsit of those? Is there a site which lists the points awarded per?
