Thanks for the update. :)

I have three boys (11-9-8 years). I'm trying to get them excited about vaulting. I have pits in my backyard and I occasionally take them the the HS when I'm coaching there. They like to tinker around with it, but after a while it becomes work and they lose interest. Can you give me any idea's to motivate them?

Thank you :)

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force it to drink.

I agree with kirk. I had 3 sons, Robert vaulted 1 year at lsu , greg vaulted 20 years , chris won his first meet as a high school freshman and quit. Duppawpaw

The important thing is that you just keep it fun. In the long term, it matters little how much they vault right now. But their motivation and attitude toward the event right now are important.

If they want to come to the track, let them come out. If they want to pole vault, great! If not, let them go try the high jump or the shot put or the hurdles or whatever they feel like.

Also, think about buying the NeoVault DVDs. That might get them fired up :)

just saw this on youtube....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__8SxzJr9no

Andreas jumping 15'6 and giving 16 a good look. But it looks like he's only holding around 13'6 so thats a heck of a push off for that low of a grip.

anyone know the stats on those jumps? pole length, weight, grip

Finally, some video of Johanna! Videos says 5'0 but Greg thinks it is 4'9" in this jump. She has jumped 5'0" in a meet.
