Staying on the pole

This is my latest vault video...http://media.putfile.com/42506-at-136...I've gotten a lot better at inverting but now i need to stay tighter to the pole at the end of the vault instead of flagging off. Any tips on how to get used to this?

P.S. I realize my steps were way off so any comments other than that are more than welcome! :P

You would be better off working to get your take off out and your right side/arm strong and high at take off!

You gotta invert more vertical. Try getting ur feet to the tip of the pole. dont worry so much about the turn, because if you pull and get above the top handhold you will invert naturally

Your jump is very, very good. Much better than you or other high schoolers might think. My two least favorite words are "invert" and "upsidedown" You need to work on your takeoff and physically becoming more powerful, but your jump gets an "A".

In the short term, I would look into a bigger pole. It seems as if you could use about 10lbs bigger on your 13'6 jumps. Not a higher grip, just a stiffer pole.

I agree with barto, it is a really good looking jump. i would say keep getting faster and stronger along with your technical improvements and you will be kicking some butt.

Thanks all for the comments, I love getting feedback on my vaults, especially the helpful and the positive kinds! :P Anywanys, I'm 5'10 137 lbs. and I was gripping 13'4.5" on a 14'3 165 Altius...I have a few poles I could get on including a 14'3 175 Altius, a 14' 170 Pacer III which we call "the Tree" because its the stiffest thing we have, regardless of the weight rating, and I recently bought a 14'5 169 Essx Carbon (169 on a 14' scale) from Bruce (who gave me a great deal by the way!) What do you guys think I should move to next, after working on my takeoff and whatnot?

It is hard to compare between brands when the poles are that close together. Experiment and see which one seems to work the best. My gut feeling would be to try gripping about 13'6 on the altius 175. I say this only because you are already jumping on an altius 165.

Good Luck
