High school senior, and 14'+ vaulter Ross Trace from suburban Chicago Deerfield was tragically killed late Friday night in a high speed car crash after the homecoming football game. He was a passenger in the vehicle.
Ross was a great guy - always a positive outgoing attitude, always tried to help competing vaulters from other schools. He was everybody's friend. A "come early, stay late" athlete Ross was absolutely driven to be the best vaulter he could be, and 6 days ago was showing signs of a potential top 5 finish at state next spring.
He will be missed.
