The french championship was won by Lavillenie who cleared 5.85 and then failed 5.95 when the wind came back.

some very good jumping....

maybe it's just me "hoping" but his run looked as good (nice frequency over the last six)and as consistent as i have seen it....

and note the three orange cones at the six step "MID".... a foot apart.. he hits the third consistently... maybe 10cm off occasionally..

looks like he is in better control than ever..

that means bigger jumps to come...

PS.. if you "charted" a 5.90m jump it would look like this... grip 5.09/TO-4.37m/"MID"-17.16m/speed 9.5MPS

Lavillenie has had a great year, clearly the favorite coming into the Olympics.

The orange cones are at 15, 16 and 17 metres.
