At the conclusion of the 200 heats, most of the fans headed toward the parking lots and most missed one of the state's best girls pole vaulting efforts.

Sheridan's Anya Wechsler cleared 11 feet, 9 inches to set a new meet record and just missed a personal-best of 12-1 on her final three attempts.

"It's mostly nerves when you're out there because you don't know what can happen," said Wechsler, who signed last week to compete for the University of Montana next year. "But the nerves help. They push you."
