So the post about Jim Davis got me thinking...what does life hold for former world class vaulters once they are done vaulting? I thought it would be cool to see what everyone is up to. Here are some people I'm curious about, and feel free to add any other names to the list. If you have any info, please share!

Kory Tarpening
Dave Volz
Tim Bright
Jeff Buckingham
Scott Huffman
Bob Seagren
Jacob Davis
Lawrence Johnson
Chad Harting
Brian Hunter
Dean Starkey
Pat Manson

etc, etc...

Last time I saw Chad, he was working in Missouri.
Dean and Jill moved to Arizona.
I think Dave Volz coaches at Indiana.
Tim Bright was coaching, but I am not sure if he still does.
I think Scott Huffman coaches, I remember meeting him at Kansas Relays.
As I recall, Jacob Davis fell off the face of the earth and no one has seen him since.

Interesting that Jacob's a coach now. He was an actuary i believe right out of school.

Tarpenning is the European rep for Red Bull.

Lojo is in the entertainment/media industry.

Dave Volz is a Manager at Cook, Incorporated, Bloomington, Indiana. Cook makes medical supplies such as stents & coils, all this "micro" stuff for arteries & veins plus some other items I know nothing about.

Dave is a Volunteer Assistant T & F Coach at Indiana. Just a couple of days a week as real work permits.

His son, Drake (1 of 3) is a junior(?) at Bloomington South. Drake just started to pole vault, but he's thinking more of being a multi/decathlon type.

Every once and awhile, the IU vaulters will challenge Dave to vault. I have heard but cannot confirm that he can still up over 16 feet.

I just heard about Dave Volz at a pole vault camp the one of the IU vaulters dads put on. He must be a good coach since he help Blayne Burkholder to the NCAA Nationals, and I hear that another vaulter down there that will be a junior also I believe, is a good jumper.

Two years ago Brian left IBM and went to work for Micron Inc. in their DC area office. He and his wife tried out for The Great Race TV show and were hoping to get a call back on that. No kids yet... or at least not the last time I spoke with him.

He may be back in Austin now. He jumped at or at least no-showed several meets in the area.
