Team Thor will be hosting All-comers meets for throws and pole vault this year, beginning Sunday Nov. 14th. As most know, UCSD is a world-class venue for the throws, and we've just set up our new international-size pole vault pits. All ages and abilities welcome. All events will be USATF sanctioned and all marks official. Feel free to email me directly at
cstary@ucsd.edu for more information.

looks like we've got about 15 entries for the vault so far on Nov 14th, mostly college and masters level, but the meets are open to high school, youth, and unattached vaulters. i'm sure we'll get a bunch of same-day sign-ups.
i just took the first jump on the new pits yesterday . . . . pretty firm, but really, really nice.

the next one is on Dec 11th, a Saturday. check out
www.teamthor.com for a flyer with the full schedule, as well as results.
last week was great! we had about 25 vaulters (age range from 16 to 73!), and went through the whole comp., men's and women's, in about 4 hours, with warmups. T-shirts for the winners, weather was perfect, couldn't ask for a better day.
Meredith Perry (Surfside AC) won the women's with 10'6'' (from a 5 stride), and Nadine O=Conner set a new women's World Record for W60 at (i think) 10'3"!!!
Scott Finley won the men's at 15' (full run). I jumped 14'6" from a 5 stride which was good for second.
Looking forward to another great turnout on Dec 11th, and then our next meet will be right after Reno, so really a tune-up before the outdoor season starts . . . .

hey W - if by "done with school" you mean "graduated" and not "man, i'm done with that," won't happen for a few more years . . . .
how's your life? planning on Reno?
you should come down for the next meet!

I'll be in Reno. Too busy to jump right now. Work is going well.
Glad to see you took over coaching the vaulters down there.
Say hi to our favorite pulmonary physiologist.
