hard to say, i agree with the rule. Student athletes are definitely students first. I would be interested in the validity of the threats, if they were just verbal, they aren't usually followed through with. However if they had knowledge of some real threat (a plan that was in place to do something) that seems like it should be a different circumstance. I am just glad i don't have to make that decision.
