For the first time in his college career, sophomore Robbie Johnston does not top the NAIA pole vault list. The defending national champion's season-best 16-6 3/4 is tied for second, three inches lower than the height cleared by Mark Hollis of Olivet Nazarene.
Johnston, who owns the school's highest vault ever at 17-4, still heads what is possibly the country's most talented stable of vaulters that includes All-American sophomore Ryan Musselman, who achieved the automatic qualification standard last weekend (15-9), and junior Grant Brannaman (15-1).
