A fault or not a fault, that is the questions.

Different officials at my meets have implemented varying faulting rules and I was wondering what the actual rules are. One official was calling people for faults if their pole crossed the plane of the back of the box, even if it did not touch anything. At my last meet I was called for this type of v...

We usually warm-up, stretch, do the sprinter workout, and then do some rollbacks. I've learned the hard way not to do many full vaults the day befoe a meet.

Dwindling numbers in the sport...

I'm sure you guys have talked about this many times, but I just wnted to know if any other people have noticed a stark decrease in the number of vaulters recently. At my meet today, only 3 girls and 3 boys participated in pole vault and all of them were from my school. This has happened various time...

^ me too! Today my coach said I was looking right at the crossbar as I passed over it and that my legs were horizontal. I get inverted in rollbacks all the time, but I never seem to remember to do it when I'm doing a real jump.

Thanks for all the help guys... Today I got a new PR of 11' on the 13' pole, but it was bending way too far. I'm going to start practicing with the 12' 140 and see how that goes. I have been inverting in rollbacks for some time, but I have never really done it on a full jump. Today my coach said I w...

switching poles

Okay, it has come to that dreaded time of changing poles because I'm over the weight limit on my "precious" pole :P The problem is my school doesn't have a 140 that is the same size as my current pole. I either have to go a foot lower or higher than my current pole. I don't which one to choose, to b...

My friend straddled the bar and it snapped in half while she was on it. She had pieces of the cross bar stuck in her legs for weeks :crying:

My friend has a whole pole vault set-up in her backyard. The land isn't flat so in some spots the runway is raised like 5 feet above the ground! It's kinda scary until you get used to it. She also has a flece(sp?) cover that goes over the mats, it feels so nice to land on them.

I'll be vaulting at my local club IPVC about 2 times a week. We have three competition jumps. I can't wait until the Beach Jump, we setup the runway and pit right on the sand at York beach in Maine. It's awesome to be able to go swimming in between jumps if you want!

Just got back from states!

Well I just got back from the New Hampshire class M/S state championships. It wasn't good vaulting weather, there was winds around 10 mph at some times blowing down the runway away from the pits. The cool temperature coupled with the wind made it a hard day to vault. The winning vault was only 10'6"...
