Re: Bottom Arm Technique -*Help Needed*
Don't beat yourself up It looks like you are blocking out when you need to. You are breaking a bit but nothing that is crazy out of the norm. You have crazy approach speed which is a big plus. I could not see your plant because of the phone but am wondering how your penultimate step is how are are s...

Lady jumpers .Help needed how fast did you go through poles?
I am a coach and I have a daughter that in her freshman year was jumping 10' on a 12' pole and was doing the straight pole flag out pole thing many young jumpers do. Last year she jumped 10' 6" on a 12'-6" 150 which gave her a PB but was getting stuck in the bucket with this jump. We jumpe...

Re: Pole progression and purchasing
Based on what my daughter has done from freshman to junior year I would say it is a good bet your boy will handle the weight. What sucks about HS jumping is that kids as they get transitioning to beging invert is that when the are on a low hold on a long stick the pole is not giving back as it was d...

Re: Take-Off and Reverse-C Suggestions?
keeping the pole moving when you are inverted with a rowing motion will help you keep the pole close to your body on the top end when you move to finish. you lose the pole a bit on the top end because of it. move the pole and Bubka

Re: Take-Off and Reverse-C Suggestions?
ok so in the last clip of you vaulting inside you went to your shins and then stopped? you needed to row through. We teach pole vaulting in steps because of all that jumpers have to learn and take in but in reality it all needs to be one smooth continuous motion smooth and in time with the pole. As ...

Re: Take-Off and Reverse-C Suggestions?
When i look at the vault you have you look under you lose a lot of your energy as your body and top arm collapse to the pole....Pole separation will help you. when you slide box drill in your last video it looks on you want to keep that separation forcing that pole to bend. as soon as you do that yo...

Re: Anybody have a 14' 210 (or any 210) for HS boy?
The weight label will not keep a kid from breaking a pole! bad form and coaching will. get rid of the weight label rule for high school or give a test option for coaches who can recognize when a jumper is reaching the limit of the pole...... and make coaches who are clueless abide by the rule. I hat...

Coaching help
Becca has to enter me in as a coach but with practice coming soon I need to ask other coaches out there how they deal with the kid that wants to pole vault as a senior in high school. I am of them opinion that I will work with him just like freshmen, getting him the basics and having a will see atti...

Re: make your own pit
Any old timers remember metal poles and pits made from chunks of foam sewn in fishnet bags. just had to revive an old post. It can be done but I am not sure I would want to be jumping 16' on those old mats. Matt rash!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Poles for Beginners
yeah lots on this subject. First any pole will work if it is around the kids weight and not to long when straight sticking warm up and drills. when kids first get jumping most cant bend a pole on their own weight (If jumping right). current pole weight rule just put coaches in a bind. As a coach of ...
