Re: Best technical vaulters
I think we should give girls credit so my list is only going to be Girls. 1. Jenn Suhr- Her jump is excellent. Even though Yelena has the higher heights, Jenn has the better jump. 2. Tiffany Maskulinski- If you have ever met her, she is not tall and jumped 14 ft. It is by far one of the best jumps I...

Re: short run pr's
I think by short run you are asking about 6 and less I assume. I've jumped 14-7 off 4, 15-1 off 5, 15-9 off 6, 13-5 off 3. I've witnessed someone do 14-9 off 4 and 15-6 off 5.

Re: What constitutes a Great Pole Vault coach?
To start off, I love the ant farm comment. I understand what you are saying so now I will give you a brief characteristic/personality profile/history of each athlete. I hadn't really thought about what types each kid was but now I will. Average size freshman high school female: She is an athlete who...

Re: What constitutes a Great Pole Vault coach?
I was trying to avoid the general/cookie cutter response of one who betters athletes, teaches well, etc. I just would like to hear who is the better coach of the 3 and why? If you need more examples then lets take each coach and give them each athlete at the same location and point of the athletes c...

What constitutes a Great Pole Vault coach?
I have been reading around and haven't found quite an answer to the question. I know there can be serious discussion and debate so I want to field some scenarios, as in who is the better coach and why? Coach A: takes an average size freshman high school female (no brimming athleticism, slow on the r...

Re: Ages of pole vaulters?
It also depends on the year. Here in Rochester,NY, when I was in high school 7 years ago as a senior I jumped 4.35, another guy jumped 4.90, a junior jumped 4.40 , a sophmore jumped 4.15, and an eighth grader jumped 3.75. This year two junior guys I know of jumped 4.05 and a senior jumped 4.50. It c...

Re: Pole vaulting with an IBD, ileostomy/colostomy or J-pouch
4.11m I jumped with an ostomy bag off 4 lefts and challenge anyone out there to find someone else who has done that, I would love to meet them. Just jumped for the first time without a colon a few days ago with a J-pouch and was going for a 14-3ish bungee off 3 lefts with a 13-6 140 gripping 12-6, h...
