Agapit wrote: [***You never answered why the swing should be shortened.] It speeds up the process. A fully extended swing to inversion would be slow. Also, energy would be lost and the pole would leave the vaulter behind once the body reached horizontal. Thirdly, the extension is a powerful move whi...

How could one increase the speed of the swing and generate more energy at the same time? By using the entire body (pulling with the arms) to execute the move, which w...

First, make sure that you aren't getting lazy with your plant. Make sure that your arms are fully extended and...

I'll take a stab at describing Bubka's action on the pole. I would call it a pike rather than a tuck, but it is definitely not a straight pendulum from shoulder to ankle all the way to inversion. I think the "pike" like Bubka does is the preferred goal because it creates more energy in the vaulter/p...

free take-off
Awesome post by agapit!!! A true contribution to the sport! I'm hoping agapit or others would be willing to develop the topic of "free take-off" a little further. I have a couple questions and comments about it. Does a "free take-off" require the last step to be directly under the hand hold or even ...
